Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Sarah Dunne and Tommy Garretson

Things To Do

Charleston and Mount Pleasant have plenty to explore between events. Walk the Pitt Street Bridge or Ravenel Bridge for great views, spend a day at Sullivan’s Island, Folly Beach, or Isle of Palms, and stroll The Battery and King Street downtown for history, shopping, and galleries. You can also rent kayaks or paddleboards at Shem Creek, or take a scenic canoe ride at Cypress Gardens, where The Notebook was filmed.

Mount Pleasant Dining

For a great cup of coffee, Second State Coffee is a calm, minimalist spot to start your day. For brunch or lunch, Vicious Biscuit is known for its over-the-top biscuit creations, and Five Loaves Café is a local favorite for fresh soups and sandwiches. Page’s Okra Grill and Acme Lowcountry Kitchen are great for classic Lowcountry comfort food, while The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan’s Island is worth the short drive for creative seafood and wood-fired pizzas. For a cozy dinner out, Post House Inn offers seasonal dishes in a charming, historic setting, and The Kingstide has amazing seafood right on the water.

Downtown Charleston Dining

You can’t go wrong eating in downtown Charleston, but these are some of our favorites. For coffee and pastries, Harken and Welton’s Tiny Bakeshop are both charming morning stops. Baba’s is perfect for a quick coffee or an afternoon glass of wine. For seafood, Delaney Oyster House, 167 Raw, and Chubby Fish all serve some of the city’s best, with everything from oysters to crudo. Brasserie la Banque brings French classics to Broad Street, O-Ku is a go-to for sushi, and Xiao Bao Biscuit is a favorite for bold Asian comfort food. Lewis BBQ is a must for Texas-style brisket, and Little Jack’s Tavern is the place for a cozy burger and martini night.

Places to Drink

For a drink with a view, head to Shem Creek for waterfront bars or grab a rooftop cocktail at The Watch, Citrus Club, or Rosemary Rose downtown. Little Palm is a fun poolside bar at the Ryder Hotel, while The Windjammer on Isle of Palms offers live music by the beach. Henry’s is a lively downtown classic, and Bin 152 is great for wine and cheese. If you’re in the mood for a dive, check out Recovery Room or Burn’s Alley downtown. For something casual and close to the hotel, O’Brion’s Pub & Grill is a cozy neighborhood Irish pub.
