Our First Date

After meeting online and spending a week texting and getting to know each other over the phone, we decided to meet up for brunch at Spot of Tea in downtown Mobile. We parked beside each other and when Taylor went to greet Sarah with a hug, she accidentally threw her phone into the road. We were both super nervous and decided we would order mimosas for a little liquid courage, but the restaurant had just run out. We spent the next hour anxiously picking at our food, hoping the date was actually going as perfectly as it seemed to be. When the check came, Taylor turned to Sarah and said, “this is your out, you can leave if you want to and there will be no hard feelings…but I know a place just around the corner that never runs out of mimosas.” Sarah was relieved that she wasn’t the only one hoping we could spend more time together. We headed to the Blind Mule and found a nice little courtyard table in the sunshine where we sipped on mimosas and ended up telling each other our entire life stories. Around 3:30, the waitress came by to let us know they were closing soon. We weren’t ready to part ways just yet, so Taylor suggested we go to The Garage, her favorite spot in Mobile to listen to live music. We ended up talking for several more hours and were so wrapped up in the conversation that I don’t think either of us heard a single song. We would later find out that by this point each of us had secretly texted our best friends saying, “I think I’m in love.” Finally, after a 13 hour brunch date, we each headed home, and the rest is history.
