Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
We always make a stop here when we are in the Traverse City area, and most frequently visit Pyramid Point since it's pet friendly. We recommend visiting Pyramid Point, the Dune Climb and the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive (more detail can be found on the NPS website by clicking "Plan Your Visit" and "Places To Go").
Leland's Historic Fishtown
Leland has one of the last working and thriving fishing districts on the Great Lakes dating back to the 1850's. We enjoy walking around this area, even in the off-season. Make sure to stop by Village Cheese Shanty for a sandwich or pick up Smoked Whitefish Pate at Carlson's Fishery.
Traverse Wine Coast
Sarah's favorite Michigan winery is Blustone Vineyards in the Leelanau Peninsula. We also love driving through Old Mission Peninsula for the wine, beer and breathtaking views - the drive to Mission Point Lighthouse will not disappoint!
