Slaten and I met through a mutual friend and immediately hit it off. I knew from the first phone call that he was different in the best way possible. He could and still can make me laugh like no other, he was so easy to talk to, very sweet, and can sing like an angel! I prayed that it was God's will for us to be together and now I get to marry him.
Slaten had planned a very special New Years Eve as it was our first together. I had actually been extremely sick and fresh out of surgery. He told me we would be going to his aunt's condo in Atlanta for the evening so we could watch the fireworks. I almost backed out because I didn't feel good but ended up going. Slaten had been acting strange all night and we had a few people (friends of his aunt) congratulate us so I was a bit confused but honestly never caught on. At midnight, Slaten and I went out on the balcony to watch the fireworks when he started recording on his phone. He then told me how I made him a better man and how much he loved me as he got down on one knee. We both cried! It was such a precious moment for us.
