FAQs

The Wedding Website of Sarah Palko and Sean Gavagan
Here you'll find some general FAQs about the wedding weekend, as well as some info on Irish wedding traditions for our American guests traveling to see us.
Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Our dress code is cocktail attire. We encourage guests to dress in a way that feels celebratory and polished. Here's a great article on cocktail attire on Brides.com: https://www.brides.com/cocktail-attire-wedding-4844364

Question

Are kids invited to the wedding?

Answer

We've decided to make our wedding day an adults-only celebration. We hope this allows everyone to relax and enjoy a fun night together. All ages are welcome to join us for our Day 2 celebrations.

Question

Why is there no registry?

Answer

As we are still deciding where we’ll call home after the wedding, we don’t want to ask our guests for gifts we may not be able to bring along.

Question

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

The Millhouse offers a vegan and vegetarian option for dinner guests. Other dietary restrictions can be disclosed in the RSVP and we will coordinate with The Millhouse!

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

In Ireland, wedding venues don’t typically include packages for open bars. We’ll be serving beer and prosecco at cocktail hour, and wine with dinner. The bar will be open for guests to purchase drinks throughout the evening. If you’re worried about running dry, you can always try sweet-talking Karolin into funding a round!

Question

Why does the wedding reception run so late?

Answer

Irish weddings are an all-day affair. Our ceremony will begin at 3 pm, our reception will run until 2 am, and the resident's bar is open until 4:30 am. While you're not expected to stay all night, some of the best memories happen after midnight!

Question

Why is there a "Day 2" on the schedule?

Answer

In Ireland, weddings are typically a two-day celebration, with the more formal wedding reception on Day 1, and a more casual get-together termed "Day 2". Our Day 2 celebration will be at Sean's family home in Slane, just 10 minutes from our wedding venue.
