We first met on January 29th, 2019. Scott had recently joined a local band, and Sarah was invited to sit in. We quickly learned that we love playing music together. And over the next few months, we found ourselves finding any excuse possible to spend time together, but we did not want to risk losing our friendship. So we took our time and found shared values in how we care for others, how we navigate hard moments, and how we refuse to take ourselves too seriously. We continued to play music, spend time together, and let everyone around us wonder … On December 5, 2019, after a typical weekly band practice, we cut the nonsense and dove right in. When the world shut down, we only found a closer bond, supporting each other through the insane stressors of working in person, finding joy in exploring the outdoors, creating a sanctuary at home in our own backyard, caring for our fur babes, and continuing to make music. Together, we have been able to create a life that each of us had only dreamed possible. Sarah has a favorite tree … 5 minutes from our home at Ancil Hoffman park, there’s a tree on the bank of the river who’s roots are exposed due to erosion. Sarah has always found a peaceful symbolism in this image - we can stand strong and beautiful when we look into ourselves and are open to healing. After months of secret planning, on March 25th, 2023, on a typical walk to the tree with our dog, Louie. Scott was prepared with rose petals, his great grandmother’s ring, and one of their favorite love songs ready to play in his pocket … As Scott hit play and started pulling rose petals out of his pockets, Sarah started nervously rambling with variations on “Wait, what’s happening?” And Scott, getting down on one knee, very calmly said, “I have something to say.” “I love you so much. Will you marry me?” “Well yea!” We are so excited for what life head ahead for us, and we can’t wait to celebrate with the people we love!
