What should I wear to all these events?

Formal American or Indian attire is welcomed for all guests! If you are looking to dress in more Indian traditional clothes, here are some options for the events: Sangeet: This is an event of dancing and fun! For Clothes, think bright colors! For women it would be best to wear a Lehenga or Kurta, however a saree can always work! For men a Kurta or suite works great! Vidhi: This event is a cleanser for the couples body and soul and signifies the preparation and welcoming into married life. This is a religious ceremony so, conservative outfits are encouraged. For women a Lehenga, Kurta, or a saree would work. For men a Kurta would be best. Wedding: The big event which needs no introduction. For women saree. For men a Waistcoat Set or Sherwani. Reception: Yes there is generally an outfit change between the morning wedding and evening reception! For our reception, please wear whatever formal attire you feel most comfortable in, the bride and groom will be!

What is the Sangeet?

This is an event of dancing and fun! The word “Sangeet “ means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding it translates to Music Night or Musical party. This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. It is here that both sides bring down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment. Mehndi, also known as henna, is a dye made from the henna plant. Be prepared to get a small design as a way to wish our marriage good fortune! For Clothes, think bright colors!
