The Story of Us

“All along there was some invisible string tying me to you” – Great Taylor Swift lyrics and an accurate depiction of Sarah and Rob’s love story. After multiple moves and many years, Sarah and Rob finally met to find lives lived in similar parallel. From Covecrest Summer camp, great agricultural colleges in small towns of little Manhattan and CSTAT along with unexpected mutual friends, Sarah and Rob finally met while living right down the road from each other in Dallas, aligned their lives and started to make memories together. Frequent road trips, exploring Texas, cheering on the Chiefs, country concerts and slow coffee shop mornings grew Sarah and Rob’s love. Sarah and Rob continued their journey with an epic proposal on what is claimed to be the most beautiful place on Earth. Sarah and Rob are pumped about the next stage of their story and to continue growing in faith, family and community as they tie the knot with YOU alongside us on July 27th 2024 in Kansas City.

The Proposal (Rob's Version)

10.27.2024

“North of Croatia is Slovenia. There is a place called Lake Bled that has a castle and a Church on an island the middle of the lake. If they have time, this would be a really cool detour for them to see!” While a great geography lesson, this was also the advice that planted the seed for my proposal plan on our upcoming vacation. After a week exploring Croatia with Sarah and sneaking away regularly to confirm important last-minute details we finally made it to Lake Bled, Slovenia. I had “burned the boats” as they say (no pun intended for those that know this story) and fully committed to the proposal on Friday despite the 90% chance of rain all day. With God looking out for us as we left our hotel the skies began to completely part and a beautiful afternoon shone down. We proceeded to grab wine and cheese at a local restaurant where its said by Sarah’s hindsight that my only slight tip was downing an abnormal number of wines before we headed off to take a row boat to the island church. Once I rowed us to the strategic location for our hiding photographer off a few hundred yards away, I dropped to one knee and asked the girl of my dreams to spend the rest of her life with me. In complete shock Sarah immediately grabbed the ring, put it on herself and said a resounding “YES”, followed by “who knows? Did you talk to my dad? Did you talk to my mom? How did you hide the ring box in your sock this whole time?” After our gleeful embrace we made our way to my favorite part of the proposal. I rowed us up to “The Church of the Mother of God on the Lake” to participate in a few of the island’s traditions. The first tradition was that any good Man must carry his bride up all 99 steep steps to the top of the church. With a series of tourists cheering us on we made it to the top (unbroken). We then proceeded to the church to ring the famous golden bell donated by a 1500’s pope that, if rang 3 times, you get one wish guaranteed to come true. After champagne toasts and a long row back to land, we made our way to an epic dinner in the castle overlooking the lake. Sarah wanted to hear over and over again the story of me asking her parents and brothers for her hand and how I managed to pull off keeping the ring hidden all week. I hoped to plan an epic proposal for an epic girl. See you at The President for an epic night!
