There are so many great wineries in the Yadkin valley. The wine trail has a little bit of something for everyone.
Pilot Mountain offers so many great trails. Walk around the actual knob for an easy hike with great views. Or take the Bean Shoals trails on the river frontage for an easy, meandering walk through the forest, across a beautiful stream and by the river's edge.
Dobbins Creek is our favorite winery in the area, hands down. It's a bit of hike from East Bend but it's worth it. It's one of the lesser known, higher quality wineries. You'll often find the owner sipping from a favorite varietal in a rocking chair on the front porch.
Hanging Rock offers epic views after a steep mile hike. There are countless waterfalls within the park too and Moore's Wall is a cardio killer with worth-it views from the top of a fire tower.
Just a few miles down the road, Divine Llama has okay wine and really awesome llamas.
Winston-Salem has a hot dog scene that is to die for. One afternoon, we tried all the famous hot dog spots in one day. We called it the hot dog tour and we only slightly regretted it. Hand down, Pulliams wins. Skip the barbeque and go straight for a dog. "All the way" is how we prefer them in the south.
West Bend is just down the street and it's a good time. There's often live music. They brew their own beer too. Stop by the Lowes Foods or Food Lion down the street for some snacks and have a fun afternoon people watching and relaxing.
A living Moravian village in downtown Winston Salem offers a unique look at how the villages of Winston and Salem came to be. Don't sleep on a Moravian sugar cookie.
