Sarah and Rafael met thanks to their mutual friend Wen-Chin, who decided they would be a great match together. After a few scheduling hiccups, Rafael skipped the group date idea and went straight for the one-on-one, inviting Sarah to Semicolon Café. Funny thing—Rafael barely remembered what Sarah looked like (except for a vague Instagram memory), so when he saw a beautiful girl in blue, he wasn’t sure if it was her… until she introduced herself, already holding her own drink! Rafael, a bit flustered, insisted on getting dessert to make up for it, and that’s how they ended up sharing french macarons and chatting for over three hours. Their first date was so great that they turned their second date into three dates in one day—hiking at a winery, dinner at a french restaurant, and a Cirque du Soleil show. Sarah tried (unsuccessfully) to drop hints about holding hands, and Rafael, completely missing them, waited until the parking lot for a slightly awkward but sweet goodbye kiss. From there, things only got better (including the kisses). They went on foodie dates, concerts, trips, festivals, and more, eventually moving in together and creating their cozy home.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Rafael planned a romantic dinner but missed one key detail—flowers! Sarah was a little bummed, but when they got home, there they were—flowers and a cute teddy bear waiting on the mantel. The bear, with Rafael’s recorded voice, had a message: “Sarah, I love you… will you marry me?” And of course, she said “Yes!” Sarah and Rafael are now in the midst of planning and preparing for their upcoming wedding. They can’t wait to celebrate with you all in December!
