Things To Do

Portsmouth is a charming waterfront city where there is so much to do. The downtown area has plenty of shops and fantastic restaurants. We encourage you to explore the city in any spare time! We listed out some of our favorite spots and activities.
The Goat

The Goat

142 Congress Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801

A country bar with some of the best burgers around. Fun spot for brunch or dinner. The sledgehammer and sangria mimosas are our personal favorites.

Portsmouth Gas Light Co.

Portsmouth Gas Light Co.

64 Market Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801

There are 3 different dining options here, the pizza pub, grill restaurant or deck. The basement pub has mainly pizza but there are sandwich options as well. The Back Deck is great for frozen drinks and listening to live music.

Martingale Wharf

Martingale Wharf

A waterfront restaurant overlooking the Piscataqua River. If you are looking to get some seafood, this would be a great option.

Restaurant at Smuttynose

Restaurant at Smuttynose

105 Towle Farm Road, Hampton, NH 03842

One of our favorite spots. It is approximately a 20 minute drive from downtown Portsmouth. This brewery has a wide variety of beer options, as well as a full bar. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio area where there is live music every weekend. There are also fire pit tables available for large parties with a reservation.

Barrio

Fun Mexican spot with great tacos and margaritas.

Prescott Park, Portsmouth

Prescott Park, Portsmouth

Strawbery Banke Museum

Strawbery Banke Museum

14 Hancock Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801

An outdoor history museum that allows you to tour living spaces of four different generations of homes in Portsmouth. It is the oldest neighborhood in New Hampshire to be settled by Europeans, and the earliest neighborhood remaining in the present-day city of Portsmouth.

Odiorne Point State Park

Odiorne Point State Park

570 Ocean Boulevard, Rye, NH 03870

A 135-acre seaside park, where there are views of the Gulf of Maine, including four lighthouses, the Isles of Shoals, the mouth of the Piscataqua River, and the southern coast of Maine. This State park has plenty of walking trails, and historical fortifications. From one of the trails, you can see the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel!
