Our love story began when Nick was searching for a date to a military ball. Nick matched with Sarah on the dating app Hinge and proceeded to wait for her to strike up the first conversation. Luckily, she did and they decided to go on their first date a few days later. They went out to breakfast at the Breakaway Cafe in Chapel Hill and proceeded to talk for 3 hours! Sarah and Nick bonded over their mutual experiences in Arizona and discovered that they had mutual friends. Nick may not have found a date to the ball, but he found his date for life!

Nick's proposal to Sarah was like something out of a movie. They went to the 4th of July Foreigner concert and fireworks at Fort Bragg. Sarah was highly suspicious because Nick refused to change out of a long-sleeve dress shirt when Sarah suggested that it would be too hot outside. They rocked out to Foreigner (Sarah was literally head-banging) and watched fireworks immediately following the show. Music was playing during the fireworks so Nick asked Sarah to dance while watching. During the finale, Nick got down on his knee and asked Sarah to marry him to which she replied "yes!" Luckily for them, nice strangers captured the surprise moment, fireworks and all.
