I found myself on the dance floor at the winter formal with nobody to dance with. It's easy to pass the time dancing in groups until the dreaded couple's music comes on. I avoided the awkward moments by staying off to the side, that is until Prince Royce's version of "Stand By Me" came on. Once the music started, I couldn't help but make my way to the dance floor, but still with no dance partner to be found. With a couple of well-timed nudges from friends, I soon found myself with a dance partner not only for the night but for the rest of my life. The night ended but the constant texting did not. Over the next few weeks, the conversations were flowing and the classic med school excuse of studying was used to hang out in person. Eventually, Sarah revealed her first and only flaw, she had never watched Game of Thrones before. It set the stage for a simple first date of getting together to watch the first episode of the show. The first night went well, and less than 1 week later was Sarah's birthday. After finding out that she had no plans for that evening, I sent a message for her to get ready and that I'd be over to pick her up soon. After a couple of phone calls to make a reservation and a quick stop to grab flowers later, we were off to our first date out in public. The Mexican food was good, the margaritas were great, and the conversation was flowing so easily. I don't know how, but after that night I just had a feeling that we had found something special and the rest is history.
