The Wedding Website of Sarah Taylor and Michael Smith
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We are asking that our invitees please RSVP by August 18th, 2025, which is 2 months before the event. Thank you and we look forward to celebrating with you!

Question

What is the dress code / theme?

Answer

Our theme is medieval fantasy (think Lord of the Rings or Dungeon and Dragons) and our dress code is semi-formal. However, you are also welcome to dress on-theme if you'd like! We would also like to give a heads-up to our guests that the ceremony location is accessed by a short hiking trail, so stilettos or thin high heels are not recommended. An all-terrain vehicle driven by an FLC staff member will offer rides for guests with limited mobility.

Question

What is the cost of lodging at Forest Lake Camp? What facilities are available?

Answer

The cost of lodging with us at FLC is $125 per person. It's a flat rate - you are not charged per night - so rehearsal dinner guests who would like to stay for 2 nights still only pay $125 per person. This is collected when you arrive and check in to the venue. If you decide to lodge with us, you will be assigned one of the camp cabins, possibly sharing with other wedding guests you indicated in your RSVP. Each cabin has been recently renovated and contains 5-8 twin-sized bunks/cots, electrical outlets, and a bathroom with multiple sinks, toilets, and showers. Bed linens, pillows, blankets, and a space heater will also be provided for you. Breakfast on Sunday is also included, and checkout time is 11am.

Question

I'm camping with you at Forest Lake Camp! What should I bring?

Answer

How exciting! Because we are staying in camping cabins and not hotel rooms, we want to kindly remind our guests to bring your own towel(s), bathroom appliances (hair dryer, etc.), clothing hangers, and any toiletries you'll need, as they will not be provided for you like a hotel room would. Bed linens, pillows, blankets, and a space heater will be provided for you. However, if you have more bedding or other camping comforts you want, you are welcome to bring them. We only ask that our guests PLEASE do not bring their own space heaters as they might overload FLC's electric system. FLC has plenty of outdoor and fishing equipment available for us to use, but you are also welcome to bring your own fishing equipment, yard games, sports equipment, etc. if you'd like!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We politely request no children attend the ceremony and reception. Thank you in advance for understanding.

Question

Where can I get ready for the ceremony?

Answer

We understand that our guests who arrive early for camp activities need a place to get dressed and primped for the ceremony! We have use of the entire property during our wedding weekend, so guests are welcome to get dressed and ready in the camp cabins, which have recently-renovated bathrooms with showers.

Question

Will we be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both! The ceremony will be outdoors, up a short hiking trail at the camp's Chapel Overlook spot. The reception will be indoors, in the Mess Hall. Check the gallery for pictures!

Question

What will the weather look like?

Answer

We are unfortunately still too far in advance to properly predict the weather, but the historical average for October 18th in Chestertown, NY is a low of 40 degrees and a high of 60 degrees. It will probably be a little chilly, so please plan ahead and dress accordingly! As our date approaches closer we will keep the website updated with the weather forecast.

Question

When does the reception end? Is there an after-party?

Answer

The reception in the Mess Hall will end at midnight - but the festivities do not need to end! We will be holding an after-party bonfire at one of FLC's activity buildings.
