Matthew and Sarah both started classes at Dallas International University via Zoom in the summer of 2020. They were both studying linguistics in order to be involved in Bible Translation and were in many of the same classes throughout the next year. They got to know each other as classmates through Zoom and met in person when they both moved on campus in the fall of 2021. Soon after this, they started dating. They have enjoyed getting to know each other since then. They regularly studied together, shared meals, explored the DFW area, and went to church together. Other activities that they love doing together include serving, sharing Jesus with others, traveling, visiting family, reading the Bible and praying together, hanging out with friends, long conversations, and just doing life with each other. Matthew proposed to Sarah on April 23 at a place called "The Knoll" which has a beautiful view and great sunsets. This is where Matthew and Sarah started dating, and where Matthew later built a bench to watch sunsets with Sarah. They plan on being married on September 3rd in Salem, Missouri and then moving to Texas where they will prepare to move to Papua Indonesia after the start of 2023 as missionaries and Bible translators.
