Mark and Sarah were both on Hinge (a popular dating app!) Sarah started getting SUPER annoyed with online dating and while she was on a silent retreat, she began to feel like it was time to delete the apps and just give up on dating for a while. The retreat was a wonderful time, and she was all prepared to delete the dating apps when she got home. She turned on her phone and THE FIRST THING that popped up was Mark's message, and he was actually asking an interesting question! Now.... the message said that Sarah liked Mark's profile first. Sarah didn't remember liking Mark's profile so naturally she thought that God had intervened in some mystical way. What she had forgotten is that one of her friend's had gone on her phone and liked some people's profiles. Mark didn't respond to that profile like immediately because... well, why didn't you respond right away Mark? After sending very long messages back and forth to one another, Mark initiated coffee. Alas, our schedules weren't going to line up for another week! Luckily, the event Sarah was planning on attending was canceled the morning of Sunday, March 15. Sarah asked Mark if having coffee that afternoon would work and he said yes! We had a wonderful time and made plans to get dinner that next Wednesday. The entire state shut down on Tuesday. We are SO grateful for all of these serendipitous events. Grateful Sarah's friend went through her Hinge, grateful Mark didn't reply until a couple of weeks later, grateful that Sarah's event got canceled, grateful we got coffee in person the weekend before everything shut down, and even grateful for the few months of online/distance dating that took place afterwards. God definitely had His role in how and when we met, maybe just not as mystically as Sarah initially thought.
