Luke and I could not be more excited for this moment that we get to share with all of our friends and family. Each of you have contributed to our story and we cannot thank everyone enough for your investment in our lives. We are humbled and honored that we get to stand before God and our loved ones as we say “I do” on May 21st, 2022. We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
In 2014, Luke was visiting Lexington for a UK football game, and although he had attended many games before as a longtime Cats fan, this time a North Greenville University friend recommended he connect with one of her middle school friends who was also a student at UK, AKA me. While we didn’t end up connecting that weekend, we met over brunch at Josie’s in Lexington a few months later where he told me he would be transferring to UK. As students at UK, Luke and I remained friends, catching up over brunch at Josie’s every now and again. Once we graduated, I stayed in Lexington while Luke moved to South Carolina to work for Clemson Athletics in Greenville. After a weekend meet-up at a UK basketball game, Luke and I continued to talk daily, and the visits back and forth from Lexington to Greenville commenced as our relationship became a bit more serious. Over dinner in Lexington on May 4th, 2019, Luke asked me to be his girlfriend, at which I almost fell out of my chair over excitement (I had waited a long time for this moment). Luke and I dated long-distance for about a year and a half before I made the exciting move to Greenville. We dated in Greenville for over a year, and then I started to get antsy, thinking “Alright, when do we get engaged and married?”. After a few months of dropping hints and light nudges (IYKYK), Luke and I headed to Lexington again for a weekend of what I thought would be football and horse races. After a brunch at Josie’s, Luke took me to a horse farm where he got down on one knee to ask if I would marry him. Between sobs, I muttered “YES!”.
