In September of 2005, Luke started his first day of second grade at St. Eugene School. That year, a new girl named Sarah would join their class. Eleven years later, Sarah and Luke would reconnect during the first week of school, this time in the dining hall at the University of Wisconsin Madison. They fell in love by the light of the bright shining moon on the Memorial Union Terrace and began dating in October 2016.

Through four years of college, starting new schools and new careers, and a long distance relationship Sarah and Luke stuck together. In September of 2021, Sarah and Luke traveled back to their alma mater for a postponed graduation ceremony. Luke proposed on the Memorial Union Terrace where they met, under the light of the bright shining moon.
