Varese
Where you'll already be! We chose Varese as our wedding destination for a number of reasons, one being that it's the perfect example of a quintessential northern-Italian town (and also where Loris grew up). Walk the cobblestone streets to do some shopping, get an aperitivo or a gelato - all within walking distance from our wedding venue. P.S. - Varese is surrounded by eleven lakes (Lago Maggiore being one of Italy's largest and most stunning). Anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes can get you to one of them, and you can spend the day relaxing by the water (with a Spritz).
Milan
Italy's metropolitan center and fashion capital of the world! Sarah and Loris both went to school here (before knowing each other), and this city holds a special place in their hearts. Get there by car or train within an hour, and experience gothic architecture, Renaissance art, try to catch a Serie A soccer game (undisputedly AC Milan), or indulge in some of Italy's best restaurants, shopping, and people-watching. :)
Como
Thanks to George Clooney, this lake has become a popular hot spot. ;) Loris lived here for two years studying and playing for the Como club soccer team, which he considers some of the best years of his life. Another classic, northern-Italian town that's perfect for a day trip, or even a small romantic getaway.
Lugano
If you're an avid casino-goer, love shopping, or just curious to cross the country border, Lugano is less than an hour away and great for a day trip or a night out! Plus, you'll get to see a pretty nice view of the Swiss Alps.
