Sarah and Kraig's love story starts before either of them were even born when their mothers (Kathy and Sharon) first met as bridesmaids in a mutual friends' (Chuck & Debbie McCall) wedding. Amazingly, Debbie set up Kraig's parents (Larry & Kathy Ellis) as young teenagers years earlier. Over forty years later, Debbie was playing matchmaker again! This time she planned to introduce Sarah and Kraig at her annual summer cookout that both the Ellis and McCullough families had been attending for years. Debbie was convinced that they would be the perfect match despite never having actually met. However, the weather had different plans that day and Kraig ended up leaving the party just five minutes before Sarah had arrived. However, Debbie was determined and made sure to tell both Sarah and Kraig all about one another while they were there. They both liked what they heard but were too nervous to introduce themselves. So finally, Sarah requested Kraig on Facebook thinking to herself, "Surely he'll reach out if he's interested." However, unbeknownst to Sarah, Kraig was convinced that Sarah was out of his league and refused to message her out of fear as coming off as "creepy". And anyone that knows Kraig, knows how incredibly stubborn he can be. So, Sarah waited two weeks for a message that never came. Finally, she decided to do something that she ordinarily wouldn't do and messaged him first! Kraig was both relieved and excited for the opportunity to get to know Sarah better and before long, they were talking daily and were headed for their first date at the Grain H20 in Bear, Delaware. Here, they sat and talked for hours! They both couldn't believe how effortless their conversations were. Kraig shared with Sarah that he had just recently purchased his late grandparents' home and that he was in the midst of a full renovation while Sarah told Kraig all about how she had been living in Lewes, Delaware (about an hour south of Kraig) for the past seven years attending nursing school at Beebe Medical School and was currently a nurse at Bayhealth Hospital in Milford, Delaware. Over the next couple of years the two of them would go on countless "dates" to various home improvement stores and when Sarah wasn't helping Kraig turn his house into their home, Sarah would show Kraig all around Lewes, taking him to all of her favorite restaurants. And in doing so, their love grew beyond their wildest dreams and Kraig knew that Sarah was the one. So he asked her parents for their blessing and upon receiving it, he set out to surprise Sarah with the perfect proposal! On July 5, 2023, in Outer Banks, North Carolina, surrounded by Sarah's family - Kraig asked for Sarah's hand in marriage while taking family photos on the beach and she said "YES!"
