Our Story Thus Far

In early 2019, Sarah and Kip met on Senator Elizabeth Warren's campaign for president. We quickly became good friends and soon Co-Chairs of Virginia for Warren. A passion for progressive politics was not the only thing that we had in common, we also had a love of books. Sarah's handle on social media is BookishFeminist and Kip had too many books for his apartment. After the campaign ended in early, we naturally joined a book club together. Despite the upheaval of the pandemic, we regularly kept in touch and kept the book club going. We supported each other through some challenging times. On February 1, 2022 we decided to make our friendship a romantic relationship. Now we were talking everyday, regularly cooking together, and of course reading together. Sarah told Kip that she wanted to get more involved with the Arlington Democrats and together they both stepped in to help their local committee. By the fall of 2022, we were ready to buy house together. In December, with a great deal of help from our families, we able to buy a home in south Arlington just down the road from where Sarah grew up and a six minute bike ride from the Jefferson Middle School where Kip is the IB Coordinator. At the start of 2023, Sarah got two jobs. Kip kept doing same thing. In September, we added a rescue puppy, Patsy, to our home. Patsy brought lots of love to our home and a desire to eat everything including our dog training book. Finally, on February 1, 2024 Kip proposed to Sarah after dinner at a French restaurant in front of a bookstore, One More Page Books. Sarah after initially not wanting to walk over to the bookstore, since it is already closed for the day, reluctantly agreed to walk over to it. Kip pointed to a particularly interesting book and while Sarah inspected it, Kip got down one knee and asked, "Will you marry me?" Sarah said, "Of course, I will marry you." And now here we are! Come be part of our special day!
