In 2023, we were simply strangers sharing a classroom at Moriah Medical College, each on our own path toward becoming Licensed Vocational Nurses. Kevyn sat at the front, focused and determined, while Sarah found her place in the back, quietly absorbing every lesson. Fate, however, had other plans for us. Our journeys intertwined when we had the privilege of attending clinicals together. In a group of ten, Sarah naturally took the lead, extending a warm invitation to anyone in need of a carpool. And so, what began as a simple gesture of convenience became the foundation of something far more meaningful. For the next 15 months, we shared rides to every clinical, studied side by side on long exam nights, and supported each other through every challenge. Between lectures, clinical rotations, and late-night virtual study sessions, we became constants in each other’s lives—first as classmates, then as friends. Endless games with our friends such as 20 Questions in the midst of 405 freeway traffic turned small talk into laughter, and laughter into friendship. As time went on, we grew closer, finding comfort in each other’s presence. Through countless hours spent studying and working side by side, we built a relationship where we could lean on each other without hesitation. During clinicals, we found solace in knowing we could ask each other anything—without fear of embarrassment—growing not only in our knowledge but in our trust and connection. What started as simple companionship became something deeper—a bond built on understanding, support, and the shared pursuit of our dreams.
