If you have the time, Fire Island is a must. Take a ferry over from Bay Shore, Sayville or Patchogue depending on what part you want to visit. Check out the beach while drinking a rocket fuel (look it up)
A little bit of trip further east but well worth it. There are plenty of vineyards along the north and south fork of Long Island. One we recommend is Wolffer on the south fork but you truly can't go wrong with any of them!
If a brewery is more your vibe or you just don't want to make the journey out east, make sure to check this place out! Solid beer and food choices. Plenty of bar hopping options as well within Patchogue
The greatest restaurant of all time. After you eat, shop around Smith Haven Mall. It's the perfect Long Island day
This state park maintains 3,473 acres of land and water for the protection and propagation of game birds, fish and animals. The preserve also has 50 miles of hiking, bridle, cross-country ski and nature trails, as well as freshwater fly fishing (by permit only) on the Connetquot River. We've never been but looks nice.
