Our Story

We both grew up in Alaska—miles apart but never crossing paths—until life led us both to Idaho, where fate (and Facebook Dating!) stepped in. When we matched, we were both looking for meaningful connections. I was hoping to find like-minded friends to camp, fish, and explore with—and JR’s profile said he loved doing all of those things. I couldn’t help but message him, telling him he was the male version of me. He didn’t respond for three days (yes, three!), but once he did, something just clicked. We discovered how much we had in common and started talking non-stop—FaceTime calls that lasted for hours. Two weeks later, we had our first date at the Boise Zoo followed by lunch. It was the best date I’d ever been on. JR didn’t waste time, either—before we even went in, he cornered me in the parking lot, kissed me, and said, “Let me just get this out of the way.” That moment sealed it. We quickly became inseparable and moved in together not long after. Our first big adventure as a couple was in August 2024, when we traveled to Hawaii to celebrate JR’s birthday. That morning, we jumped out of a plane—literally—going skydiving together. Later, he asked to take a photo with the skyline behind us. As we posed, I had no idea his phone was actually recording. He turned to me and asked, “Are you ready for another adventure with me?” I said yes—of course. That’s when he got down on one knee and proposed. I was completely speechless. We had talked about marriage before, and since JR had been married previously, it wasn’t something we put a lot of pressure on. I knew I just wanted to be with him, in whatever form that took—even if it meant being his girlfriend forever. I think that’s what made him realize how special our love really was—so special that he wanted to give me a wedding and a marriage. What I love most about JR is how he helps me grow. He teaches me to see life from new perspectives, helps me find my voice in moments I would’ve stayed silent, and reminds me to be confident in who I am. What he loves most about me is how caring I am—always thinking of others, always kindhearted. He says I don’t have a mean bone in my body. We've been incredibly lucky in our time together. Aside from the emotional loss of my grandpa, life has been full of joy, playfulness, and adventure. We love to travel, try new things, and laugh together. And we adore our two Boston Terriers, who are very much a part of our little family. Our story isn’t just about finding love—it’s about finding the kind of partnership that brings out the best in each other, and choosing that love every single day.
