Sarah's side of the story: I got a little impatient with dating apps in Iowa prior to moving to Cambridge, MA for my graduate degree. I decided to set my "Hinge" app to Boston, with hopes I might find a viable friend or boyfriend to show me around the city and keep me from getting too lonely. Someone told me, “Don’t fall for the first guy you meet"... Well, my parents left me at my new home on Monday and I went on my first "meeting" with Joey the following Sunday evening... When our first date turned from iced tea and a walk to a beer at the restaurant bar, it had to have been a good thing. Joey told me our next "meeting" could be a "date" and we went to a restaurant in Fenway area and walked to the place that he ended up proposing to me in Boston two years later. Our third date (and first kiss) was at Bunker Hill. We started dating walking into a Kings Bowling Alley. We said I love you after a Tom Brady touchdown in Gillette Stadium. Four years from our dating anniversary, we plan to say "I do" in the location we both feel the closest to heaven: Iowa. Joey's side of the story: It all started with a WIFI connection and a downloading of Hinge from the iOS App Store. Hinge was the dating app that was “designed to be deleted.” I can’t fully remember the exact message that prompted Sarah to respond. She was from Iowa, and I was curious to get to know her but didn’t want to force anything. She decided to change her filter of Iowa to Massachusetts because she was coming out for school here in summer of 2019. I wanted to be her friend first and foremost. I enjoyed the summer as did she and, on a whim, she decided to pursue me more definitive when she was getting closer and closer to move this way. I suggested some churches for her to plant herself in as faith was important to her and myself. I wanted to help build a firm foundation of friendship for she was in a new place. It eventually blossomed into much much more. Our first dates were revolutionary in nature. First the Lexington battle green and bike path. To Fenway Park. Eventually sharing our first kiss at Bunker Hill. These all lead us to the many memories we’ve made to today. I’m excited to share a little slice of heaven in Iowa with everyone I care for, as I have learned to love it just as Sarah does.
