John and I technically met on a blind date. He sent me a direct message on Instagram sometime in the spring of 2018 asking me to fill out a survey. This "survey" consisted of a blank iPhone contact screenshot. I of course laughed and sent him my number. I did verify with one of my best friends Hannah (Oliver) Leasure that she knew of him and he was a good guy. They went to UK together and she could not say enough good things. Fast forward to our first date at the Silver Dollar in the summer of 2018. We really hit it off and continued to go on dates for a few months. We unfortunately parted ways at the end of the summer. We both were wanting to go back to graduate school and did not know where we would both end up. John and I did communicate here and there during that fall, winter, and spring. John ended up getting into the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University (because he is so very smart) and I went to UL for my Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree (a nurse practitioner degree). I reached out to John to congratulate him on getting into IU and he asked if we could grab a drink in August 2019... We ended up getting drinks and dinner with my parents and my Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Juan Montano (this was not the intended plan, but hey, we got a free dinner!). We had a great night and realized our feelings for each other never left. John left for IU and I stayed in Louisville. We moved forward with a "short-distance" relationship and it was the best decision of our lives! We had so much fun visiting each other on weekends- sporting events, spending time with family and friends, and many game nights. John moved back to Louisville after he graduated from IU and our relationship continued to grow stronger each day! And now here we are, engaged and getting married on 9/8/23!! We cannot wait! We cannot thank our friends and family enough for helping our relationship get to where it is today. Now let's celebrate!
