July 2017: Jimmy was a coach on California's Fargo national team, and I was the transportation director for Indiana's. The wrestling community is our absolute favorite, and we always look forward to seeing all of our friends each summer in North Dakota. Another key character in our story is our friend, Andrew: originally from Indiana, and a former coach at Cal Baptist. As happens nearly every evening at the annual tournament, the adults wind down a long day of wrestling at "The Herd" or "The Turf." Such was the scene in which Jimmy began spending time with Team Indiana, and we began spending time together. At the end of the week in Fargo, Jimmy proposed to fly me out to California to visit! Though we attached no strings at the time, I also invited him to Indiana, and he came only 3 weeks later. He saw my dance studio, met my friends and went out to dinner with us, waited patiently during the days while I was at school, and by the end of the week (August 19), we decided we officially wanted to be together. He even met my family on an ice cream date that same evening. I visited LA for the first time in September, and we did all the touristy things. In October, he traveled to Bulgaria to wrestle in his first World championships, and I woke up at 3am to watch him online. By November, I let my family know that I wanted to move to California the following year. June 2018: Jimmy came to Indiana on crutches to, first, hobble around Schoolboy Duals in Indy while I worked the tournament. On June 12, we took my car, loaded with all it could carry, and began our cross-country trip to LA, making lots of memorable stops along the way. Since then, we have loved, argued, coached, traveled, and dreamed bigger together than I think either of us ever have. Even so far as to plan a destination wedding, something I never would've even considered before having Jimmy in my life. We're looking forward to a future of possibility and promise, and can't wait to celebrate with everyone!
