Duke is well-known for it's beautiful gothic architecture and there have been some amazing new additions in recent years. Whether you're "coming back home" or this is your first time visiting, we encourage you to explore campus and check out all there is to see.
The Sarah P. Duke Gardens, located on the University's campus are a beautiful place to spend a few hours during your time in Durham. Guided tours are available on Fridays (more info here http://gardens.duke.edu/visit/tours) or visitors are welcome to explore the 55 acres of specialized gardens on their own.
The Duke Lemur Center is the world’s largest and most diverse collection of lemurs outside of Madagascar. The center provides a number of different types of tours to the public and private group tour are available as well. **Reservations are required for ALL tours so we encourage you to call ahead of time if this is something you're interested in doing!**
If you're interested in hitting some balls or playing a few holes, the Washington Duke Inn close to campus has a great golf course available to the public. To book tee times, please call the Golf Shop at 919.681.2288.
If you're looking to grab a drink and a bite to eat, Motorco is a great new casual watering hole downtown with delicious small bites. Between the craft beer, tacos, and dog-friendly outdoor seating, Motorco has quickly become one of our favorite Durham spots.
This fun cafe downtown serves breakfast, sandwiches & artisanal coffees. There is also a gourmet food & wine market attached, as well as a quaint gift shop.
Monuts lives up to its name offering Durhamites delicious donuts and mo'. This busy cafe and bakery serves a full menu of breakfast and lunch fare including soups, salads, sandwiches, and of course, donuts. Pop in and sit at the old-school counter for wait service or order up and find a table!
