Go spend an afternoon touring the lake in a wooden boat or eat lunch on the ferry or visit the bakeries local to the area. If that doesn’t’t hit your sweet spot hit the ice cream parlors equipped with handmade ice cream and cones.
Sandwich’s local beach and hike! Go visit for an afternoon session of yoga or watch the sunset. If the beach isn’t your thing take an easy one mile hike up to see the whole town of Sandwich and the lake.
Samantha’s and Sarah’s recommendation for penny candy, the BEST pickles that make you pucker, and novelty store. It’s right next to the library which makes it all the more better. 10 minutes from Sandwich.
Do you love coffee? Homemade sweets? Teas? Locally sourced coffee beans and roasters? Do we have the place for you! The absolute favorite of Lisa Vickers and Sarah Vickers and right down the road from the old country store.
A day trip for those of you coming up early. Portland has all those New England must’s you’ve seen on that first google search: Lobster, quirky downtowns mixed with history, seaside restaurants, lighthouses, breweries, state parks, art museums, whale watching, and quaint b&b’s (if that’s your thing).
Planning on making this a vacation instead of just a wedding? There are SO many places and things to do up here, but Cape Cod holds many fond memories for Sarah and her family. One of which one in particular stands out: imagine, the last Harry Potter book is set to be premiered while we’re vacationing. Sarah and her dad go into every book store, grocery store, card shop; anything that might sell it. All sold out. Until they try one last place. One copy left. And we got it.) Sarah’s favorite: Nantucket, rent a bike, see the whole island and stop at the beach before heading for a bite to eat. Joe’s favorite: Provincetown, drag queen acts advertised by the performers themselves. Also ice cream. Lisa’s favorite: Chatham. It’s mainland, and has all the foodie stops.
Local creamery that makes ice cream, cheese, and other delicious delights. It stays open until 10 PM where you can stop by and say hello to the cows and goats. It’s a bit of a bumpy ride but worth it. The coffee ice cream is the best.
Handmade ice cream...a family favorite. During the summers our night was not complete without packing everyone into the old Lincoln and driving to Bobby sues. Nana gets chocolate and spills it. Papa got Vanilla. And Joe? Well Joe Vickers always gets the banana split.
Railways, observatory, beautiful views.
