The Virginia Zoo
Honestly, who doesn't like to go to a zoo?! The Virginia Zoo has tigers and lions and red panda bears and oh yea, a petting zoo! Totally worth checking out.
O'Connor Brewing Company
This was one of the first places I took Jacob to get to know the area when he first moved here. The beer is amazing and they always have something going on as well as food trucks and a game area for the kids. We love this place!
Nauticus Museum
There's a lot to see and do at this museum. Located on the Elizabeth River waterfront, this maritime-themed science centers has exhibits on marine weather, oceanography, environmental science, marine biology, and even the shipping industry which is so big in our area. There is also the Hampton Roads Naval Museum located on the 2nd floor that is run by the U.S. Navy and also houses and runs the Battleship Wisconsin. In the back of the museums is the community sailing center, Sail Nauticus where Jacob works and where I used to work. Every part of the is campus is worth seeing!
Virginia Beach
There are so many things to do at the Beach, as us locals call it! From swimming in the Atlantic Ocean at the Oceanfront to visiting the Virginia Aquarium to other local breweries and restaurants. The Beach as a lot for everyone!
Tides Baseball Game @ Harbor Park
Take me out to the ball game! Jacob and I love watching live sports games. They are more exciting watching them at the stadiums or arenas while hanging with friends and eating/drinking the ballpark fare. Enjoy a fun afternoon or evening at the park! Go Tides!
Benchtop Brewery
One of the first places I took Jacob to when he moved into down. Hands down one of the best breweries in town. Go check it out!
Norfolk Botanical Gardens
We like to go see the holiday lights here between Thanksgiving and December. In the warmer months though the blooms are gorgeous and there is a splash pad for this kiddos!
Pixels Pints & Bytes Barcade
Tried this new but nastologic place where you can dine and play retro-style video games like Pac-Man, Skee Ball, and Mortal Combat! Such a cool spot and place were you can be a kid again!
Waterside District
This place is right on the downtown Norfolk waterfront with awesome views. It offers a lot of restaurants and bars as well as a great concert and live music venue. It's a cool place to check out!
Todd Jurich's Bistro
Every Friday Jacob and I go here for their awesome happy hour after work to meet up with friends and coworkers and start our weekend off right! Oh, be sure to sit in the bar area or outside and ask for Rob! He's the best bartender and always takes great care of us! Seriously though they give you a glass of the drink of choice with the mixer on the side. Worth a drink to kill time, trust us!
Hank's Filling Station
This is a go-to hangout for us and local our friends for happy hour or a laid back place to grab a bite, a few drinks, and play a few backyard games. Corn hole anyone?
