Hotel
This downtown hotel is a bit older than the more recently constructed ones so it offers a good mix of location and value. For those traveling with children, it has an indoor pool (year round) and an outdoor pool (seasonal). There are things to do and places to eat within walking distance but you will need an Uber or Lyft to the venue for the reception. There should be a room rate if you mention that you are in the Taggart/Lauer wedding block.
Travel Note
Restaurants that can handle large groups (call for reservations): Rhythm on Monroe, 1892 East, West End Grill, Stovehouse (food court style, multiple restaurant options) Want some “soul food” while you are in the South? Betty Mae’s, Walton’s Southern Table, Blue Plate Cafe Best pizza in town? Big Ed’s Pizza, hands down. What about the bar scene? Huntsville’s downtown bar scene has really improved over the years, with an explosion of new “roof top” bars, “raw bars”, and microbreweries. Karaoke can almost always be found at Miller’s Tavern. Stovehouse, Mid-City, and Campus 805 are also always a good time. Vegetarian? Give "The Veggie" a try. The Chef was recently featured on the Food Network. Gluten-Free? Mason-Dixon Bakery has a full menu.
