Unfortunately our wedding was cancelled by the venue. We are beyond upset but it's out of our hands. We'll keep everyone updated as well as post updates to the website as we know more about our future plan. If there's any issues you run into cancelling hotels or airbnbs, we'll do our best to help, just let us know. Thank you all for your love and support. Stay safe and healthy!
Some people believe in love at first sight and others believe that being friends first makes the best relationships. We had a little bit of both. I had taken a liking to Sarah the first time I met her. At the time, it only remained a crush until I became brave enough to go in for a kiss, which was a 50/50 shot of rejection. Scary times! Lucky for me, I curved the rejection and got a kiss, win! For years after we didn’t take our friendship further than just a kiss every now and then, but I stayed persistent with letting her know that I was still interested. And little by little, after years of trying to deny him, I finally relented and we went on a real first date. I knew that we had something special, special enough for me to even travel to Oakland! Although the commute to and from was horrendous to me, and I'd show up to Brian's in a foul mood sometimes, he always knew how to put a smile on my face (and only part of that was having some wine ready for me! Just kidding mom). We did have a lot of fun times in Oakland though, we loved exploring neighborhood restaurants and visiting Pete at Plank. We also had plenty of nights where we would stay home and cook together, which has become one of our favorite things to do.
A little more than a year later, Brian moved in to my rent-controlled apartment. It was very nerve wracking to combine our fur families, however, Atlas was great and totally cool with the cats and shockingly, The Bia could care less about him. Little Man however, took a little longer to get on board with the dog but they all love each other now. Moving to SF made our life much easier and we quickly fell into a routine of chill weeks (besides school, that part sucked) and fun weekends traveling, hanging with friends, and taking long walks. I even convinced Sarah to go on bike rides with me. She's quite the rider now if you can avoid downhill, busy streets, or going fast in general. We'd check out different brunch spots on the weekends, often catching some great people watching. Some of the most memorable days for us were the unplanned days where we would go for a long Sunday walk with OUR dog and just talk about whatever was on our minds. Things were going great, but we still had our big vacation to go! I had to do a little convincing to get Brian to get on the travel bandwagon, but luckily it wasn't too hard! The second he told me he had the opportunity to go to Italy for school, I knew we'd be making the trek across the pond. We ate our way through Italy, then met up with our friends Randy, Jamie, and Evan (watchout for jellyfish, Evan!) for some beach time in Ibiza! And finally ended our epic trip with a visit to our amazing friend Claire in Amsterdam. We had the best few weeks and came home exhausted, but it was totally worth it. I always had so much fun with Sarah and I knew I wanted to marry her, I just needed a ring. I didn't realize how overwhelming engagement ring shopping was, but luckily I recruited some help to come along with me (Thanks Jaime and Heather!). Once I purchased the ring I knew I did not want to delay the proposal long, so I planned on proposing on a night we had dinner plans, weather permitting.
We had a planned dinner on Friday night at a restaurant next to the Bay Bridge. All week we were getting rained on in the city. Knowing that we had this dinner, I decided to bring the ring just in case we had a clearing in the sky and I could propose next to the Bay Bridge while it's all lit up. Dinner was fast moving and all I could pay attention to was the weather. I saw a clearing in the sky as I was about to ask for the bill but then my wonderful girlfriend thought we should look at the desert menu. I stayed calm while we looked at the menu keeping my fingers crossed it wouldn't rain. Luckily, she did not like the choices and we were able to leave while the sky was still dry. As we walked to the bridge, I knew that I had to get the attention of someone walking by to grab a photo of our moment. We found a wonderful couple that decided to change my phone from pictures to video to capture our special moment. The following minutes were the best moments of my life! The most beautiful girl said YES!
