We hope you plan a trip around our wedding, whether that be throughout different regions of Portugal or traveling to nearby countries.
You can spend several days in Lisbon for sightseeing, great food and wine, and culture. We recommend exploring the city center and main squares such as the Praça do Comércio and Rua Augusta for food and shopping. Alfama is a lovely, older neighborhood with cobblestoned streets, tiled buildings, and craft shops. If you're interested in history, head to the western side to view the Tower of Belem, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, and Monument to the Discoveries.
Other cities/regions within Portugal that are worth making a trip to include:
- The Algarve - the southwestern coast known for its beaches and crazy cliffs
- Sintra - about 30 minutes from Lisbon, a town famed for its European architecture with several palaces/castles open for tours
- Porto - a bit further north in Portugal, this is a riverside city that's considered a must-see
