We met each other downtown Newport News at Huntington Middle School in 2012. We never talked that much in school; we just passed by. One day, I gave him my dad’s cell phone number so he could text me at night. Demitre was the last person my dad yelled at, saying, “Stop calling this phone this late.” But, he was the first & only man my father loved, gave him his blessing in my hand in marriage. We have literally never been apart since 2018. In the eight years, we’ve gotten our two cats, built a business. We couldn’t imagine our lives without each other.
