Our Story/Dan's version
We first met at pub trivia. Although initially quiet, Sarah soon asserted herself with her trivia dominance. After our friendship grew more through groups at St. Peter's, we then had a very memorable first few dates. She showed me her scrappy competitiveness at Queen Park Social, sang to me on our 2nd date (and continues to sing to me!) and on our 3rd she waited to eat with me after I was called out to work. As our love has grown, we feel we are “home” whenever we are together. Sarah encourages me in my faith and work, as well as when to slow down, rest, and “just be”. She is tender, sweet, and kind and I know that I am a lucky man to be marrying her. We deeply cherish relationships with family and friends, and are so grateful you are able to be a part of our special day,
Our Story/Sarah's Version
The first thing I remember about Dan is his huge, friendly smile. After a month or two of trivia, I definitely had a crush on him! I figured he wasn't interested, so I resigned myself to the dreaded "Friend Zone." I really fell for Dan after hearing him perform a story about his life. He was sweet, vulnerable, down-to-earth, and hilarious. I stayed up half that night reading his blog. When he suddenly asked me out about 5 months after that, I was only too happy to say yes! Dan understands me better than I ever could have imagined. He accepts my deepest fears and my silliest quirks, and has the grace to find them all lovable (at least that's what he tells me!). I can't believe how blessed I am to spend the rest of my life with such a wonderful partner.
Best Man
Patrick is Dan's older brother. Throughout their childhood they enjoyed playing games like "superheros" (complete with bath towels for capes) and "Kids Olympics". The summer of 2001 they drove a Lego-Mobile across the country and survived. They have similar interests in sports, movies, books and have maintained a life long close bond. Patrick lives in Durham with his wife Sarah and two yahoos named Lucy and Sam who their Uncle Danny adores!
Maid of Honor
Marissa and Sarah met the first week of their freshman year at Miami University (in Ohio, not Florida). Neither can remember exactly how they met, but they quickly became close friends. In college, Marissa and Sarah both enjoyed reading Harry Potter, solving the world's problems, and not getting drunk. To the delight of both, they ended up in Charlotte a few years after graduation. They've lived together for over two years now. Marissa is a wonderful roommate because she offers great advice and bakes amazing desserts.
Bridesmaid
Catalina and Sarah met through Refugee Resettlement Ministry, and quickly found out that they both love God, service, and having fun with friends!
Bridesmaid
Sarah and Julie share a love of history, teaching, and chocolate (a great basis for any friendship)! Thanks to Julie's influence, Sarah knows the names of many country music stars, and even went to a Brad Paisley concert.
Bridesmaid
Sarah W (who also spells Sarah correctly) is a wonderful name-twin to have! She is always a calm voice of reason when it comes to group decisions, and she is a very generous friend.
Bridesmaid
It was clear from the beginning that Robin was "a keeper" because of her good influence on Sarah's brother, Daniel. The first time Sarah and Robin met, they bonded over being the only girl among brothers in their respective families. Turns out, they both wanted a sister--and Sarah is thrilled that they will soon be sisters-in-law!
Groomsman
Nick and Dan knew each other at Xavier and then found each other again in Charlotte years later at a time when each needed a good friend. We bonded over weekly pub trivia, Xavier game watches, and a shared love of Gummy Bears.
Bridesmaid
Sarah Walls has always made Sarah Rings feel welcome and comfortable in the Morris clan. They enjoy talking about books and education, and rolling their eyes at the Morris men. Sarah R. is delighted to be getting such a wonderful sister-in-law!
Groomsman
Dan met Brett and Christine while training for the Trailblaze Challenge- a 28 mile hike fundraiser for Make A Wish. (Dan was hoping for a piggy back ride the last few miles- a la Luke and Yoda). Brett has remained a good friend and adventure buddy.
Bridesmaid
Amy and Sarah knew just a few weeks into freshman year that they wanted to be roommates. They lived together for 3 fun years, sharing stories, movies, recipes, and more.
Groomsman
Brando is the welcome troublemaker instigator to Dan (see Sarah, it's Brando, NOT me!) The two enjoy camping adventures through St. Peter's Men's Group and each helps the other kick butt at life. (Even more that is!)
Groomsman
Joe and his wife Julia have been great friends to Dan and Sarah in Charlotte from moving help to delivering surprises of beer and baked goods! Dan enjoys lots of laughter with Joe and has great memories of a special trip to Atlanta and volunteering at grief camp together.
