Connor and Sarah were born two weeks and 100 miles apart. Connor to Nathan and Sarah Fuchs, their first born baby boy and bundle of joy. Sarah to David and Melissa Azure, their second daughter to complete their family of four... and likely the reason they didn’t have any more kids, if you know what I mean! The pair grew up in the same small town of Jamestown, North Dakota, eventually only living less than a mile away from each other. However, it wasn’t until middle school that they met in band class. Connor played the trumpet and Sarah played percussion. Their love for music carried over into high school, and their friendship grew singing together in concert choir and jazz choir. They even won a few state titles performing duets together! High school came and went. Connor went off to play hockey in Montana and Michigan, and Sarah stayed put to play golf at the University of Jamestown. The two stayed close, texting every day and occasional phone calls to catch up. Connor would call on Sundays to tell Sarah about the girl he had fallen in love with at the bar the night before, and Sarah would call to complain about nursing school or crummy boys. They always supported each other! As time passed, Connor realized that the qualities he looked for in a girl were all the qualities of Sarah. It wasn’t until March 2022, though, that Connor told Sarah his feelings. She quickly blew him off without a conversation, knowing that she didn’t want to risk losing her best friend, but as the months passed, she realized that one particular person was always on her mind. The partner she had been looking for was standing right beside her all along. To marry your best friend is to marry the person who sees you for who you are. The person you can laugh with, cry with, adventure with, go to church with, cook with, sing with. Or in our case, marry the person that peeled you off of the ground when you were at rock bottom. Marry the person that held you when your anxiety was uncontrollable. Marry the person that cried when you crossed the finish line at your first marathon. Marry the person that loves you unconditionally.
