I am not always the best with words, I have no shame in admitting that. I tend to ramble and, somehow, always end up making short stories last 20 minutes longer than they should - occasionally losing the actual point of the story. Much like this one...BUT, it's worth it. Trust me. None of us will ever forget the year that needs no mentioning - and if I have to tell you what year I'm talking about, then you must be from a different planet. As challenging as that year was, for literally the entire world, it was by far the best year of my life. I know it sounds cliche but that was the year I met Cody. I was the middle school chorus teacher in a rural county. I was surrounded by farm land, cows, and everyone who knew everyone. Except me. I was the city girl who knew no-one but quickly made some of the sweetest connections with the folks I worked alongside of. In fact, I owe mine and Cody's love story to a particular resource officer at that school - he knew exactly who to set me up with and I am so glad he did. One evening after school, the SRO sent me and email with a picture of Cody attached and asked "do you think he's cute? and Do you want his number". Duh, of course I did but I had to play it cool so as not to seem too excited. I respond with, "Yes, I think he is very cute, but no, I don't want his number. He can have mine if he is serious." More emails were exchanged back and forth and I just knew I wouldn't hear from him. However, later that evening, while I am watching tv, my phone dings - "Hi Sarah, this is Cody Craig. I was told I needed to text you. How are you?" To which I quickly replied "Oh my word, you actually followed through - hi, my name is Sarah."
