How we met

Chris and I found each other through a Christian dating website. We were both drawn to the words we wrote in our profiles. One common thread was when I mentioned the "fruits of the spirit" (Galatians 5:22-23) which really resonated with him because this was part of a recent church sermon we both heard. Come to find out we had been attending the same church for quite sometime! I've always been very shy so we messaged each other for several months before finally meeting or even talking on the phone. Chris finally decided he didn't want to wait any longer to meet me in person so he made the first move and drove 45 mins to do a quick casual meetup which involved a lot of cookies! Lily and I were selling Girl Scout cookies outside White's Country Meat Market and I knew he was on his way. I was sooooo nervous and excited!!! When he arrived I immediately knew it was him! He walked up to our booth, smiled, winked and then proceeded to buy about 20 boxes of cookies lol. I will forever be grateful he made this first move because I was so nervous and it was the perfect way to break the ice. We soon met up again, just him and I, outside our church and went on a walk and the words just flowed naturally. I was still nervous but felt so comforted by his gentle presence and kind words. He was truly a gentleman! And the rest is history. We started going on dates, took several trips together and fell in love. After a couple years of dating Chris asked me to marry him on December 2nd 2023. He took me to the Portland Art Museum and then down to the waterfront. We walked to the end of one of the piers and this was where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said YES with huge smile and a heart full of love and happiness! He then took me to a fancy restaurant to celebrate. Throughout our relationship there have been so many signs and unexplainable coincidences that makes it undeniable that we should be together. True kismet is the only way I can explain it. And now, after we get married, we are about to embark on the biggest adventure of both our lives by moving to Hawaii! We were gifted a trip to Hawaii by a dear friend and Chris and I immediately felt at home over there. Hawaii reminds me so much of where I grew up in Hong Kong and I've yearned for a place to finally call home again. The Aloha spirit lives deep in our hearts and we want to immerse ourselves with this intense peace and love that surrounds the island. Both our past lives haven't been easy but together he have found healing, love, peace and true happiness.
