Christopher and Sarah met volunteering in the food pantry at First Refuge Ministries. Christopher was enchanted the moment he saw her. They spoke in passing a few times. Life, though, decided to throw them several curveballs… In December 2019, the volunteers had a Christmas celebration. With a delicious pot-luck dish and some truly divine intervention, Christopher captured Sarah's attention! His heart raced when there was a seat at the table next to her. Sarah's memory was a little slow to kick in, but through those tasty veggies, suddenly she remembered him. By the end of the night, Christopher was completely smitten. Very soon, they began to look forward to serving together. And fueled by a friendly competition to learn Spanish, a friendship began to blossom. Fast forward a few months, and the world came to a halt. Almost all volunteers were told it would not be safe to continue. After a few weeks in the house, Sarah took some needed refreshment to the now drive-through pantry. She was surprised to recognize a certain gentleman behind a mask. By then, both realized feelings for each other. However, with all the uncertainty, there was no way to do anything about it. It would be months before the rest of the volunteers were asked to come back. Christopher had begun to wonder if he would see Sarah again. Then one day, she walked back in! Soon thereafter, both decided to take a chance. Christopher would savor every second he could spend with Sarah. And eventually, Sarah boldly gave him her phone number! It all began with a text, then some delightful conversation. Christopher no longer wanted to be friends. Several weeks later, a first date. They never looked back.
