We unexpectedly met on a cruise ship to Bermuda in 2019 and dated back home in Northern Virginia until Sarah moved to Charleston in 2020. After months of train rides and week-long trips during COVID, it didn’t take long for Chip to make the move that November (and bring Sarah’s cat, Luci, down with him!). Charleston quickly became home. We built a life filled with beach days, live music, late dinners, new jobs (some we even worked together!), and unforgettable weekends with the best friends we could’ve ever hoped to meet. We’ve road-tripped across states, danced our hearts out at music festivals, and shared countless adventures—with plenty of laughs, growth, and love along the way. In December 2020, we bought a rooftop tent and hit the road in May 2021—two weeks of national parks, gas station snacks, and camping across Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. If we could handle being off-grid, hiking the most dangerous trails (Chip still has PTSD from Angel’s Landing), and a 35-hour drive home with a small mishap on the way (we ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere), we figured we could handle pretty much anything. The beach has always been part of our story. It’s where we signed our first lease, toasted to new jobs, celebrated every little win, and dreamt about the future. In 2023, we put down roots and bought our first home on Johns Island. Now we’re getting married where so many of our favorite memories have happened—and we can’t wait to celebrate it all with you.
