Camden and Sarah first met during their sophomore year of high school after being introduced by a mutual friend. They didn't cross paths again in a meaningful way until 2019, after graduating high school, while attending a friend's graduation party. They were both really happy to hear they'd be attending NC State University together that fall. By the end of the first week of classes, they had gone on their first date to a Delta Rae concert at the University. After that date, Sarah and Camden knew that they had found something extremely special in one another. They began officially dating shortly thereafter, and the rest is history.
Camden had known for some time before the proposal that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Sarah. The hardest part was finding a venue that could match the love he felt for her. Colorado has always been home for Camden, and after making the trip with Sarah several times over the years, he got the sense that she had come to think of it with the same fondness. Camden knew in his heart that this was where he wanted to ask Sarah to spend the rest of her life with him. In the fall of 2025, Sarah and Camden started on a journey throughout Colorado. After visiting family, their first stop was Aspen, a small mountain town in western Colorado. On the morning of October 7th, 2025, Camden and Sarah walked together to the John Denver sanctuary to enjoy the sunrise. They found a secluded area of the park overlooking a small pond, where Camden knelt down on one knee and told Sarah how much she had meant to him those past six years. He asked Sarah to marry him and spend the rest of their lives together, and she said yes. While walking back from the park, Camden couldn't help but think of a quote from one of his and Sarah's favorite John Denver songs: "He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again. You might say he found a key to every door."
