Broderick and Sarah officially met in 2003 in Mrs. Weniger's A-Day kindergarten class. While Sarah remembers distinctly meeting Broderick, Broderick doesn't remember much of his experience as a five year old. After an 8 year hiatus of friendship, the pair met up again in the theater program at Andover High School and became best friends their freshman year. Through many musicals and plays (and even playing a married couple at one point), Broderick crushed on Sarah for years. After graduation, Sarah finally (wisely) agreed to give dating a go during their first year of college, and the rest is history.
During the first few hours of a three day camping trip, Sarah and Broderick hiked down to a pebble beach at Tettegouche State Park, where Sarah spent many hours with her family growing up. Along the shore of Lake Superior, Broderick got down on one knee and very sweetly asked Sarah if she would like to get married. After Sarah (of course) said yes, the pair hiked back up to the car where they were met with a group of their best friends, whom Broderick had sneakily invited to join them camping and celebrate the engagement for the weekend. It was so special, and will be yet another treasured memory on the North Shore.
