Blake had planned a trip for 'work' down to St. Pete Florida which is one of our favorite places in the states. I was so excited to get out of Ohio and have some fun in the sunshine state! The night we were set to leave our plane was unfortunately delayed...and then finally cancelled completely. At this point Blake went into full panic mode and I was genuinely confused why it was such a big deal? There was a reason for that and I would find out much later. Eventually Blake ~passionately~ let the airline know it was unacceptable and we needed to be in Florida early the following morning. So, they miraculously got us on the last plane out of Columbus and to Charlotte for the night where Blake surprised me with a skydiving experience that would take place in Florida the next morning! All was right again and vibes were back up! That is until we made it to the hotel in Charlotte. Another plan gone wrong. We show up at the hotel and to our surprise they sold our room even though we confirmed we would be checking in. So sweet of them! It's now well past 2am and after lots of calls and begging we found a motel for just a few hours until our 7am flight. Tired was an understatement but we made it to the airport once again and hopped on our final plane. When we got to Florida we jumped into the car and booked it straight to the Skydive facility. A lot of people have asked if I was asking questions at this point - the answer is, not once. Blake and I at this point had been together 7 years and if there is one thing about Blake, whatever he has planned is what we are doing and no doubt will be incredible. After watching the horrifying skydive warning video that makes you really question if you want to go through with it, the waiting began. We waited and waited and waited for our turn. I was having a blast watching plane after plane go up in the sky and their passengers floating down having an amazing time. Blake....not so much. I was so confused why he was in SUCH a rush? (not realizing he had hired a photographer that was on a schedule) I might have copped a bad attitude for a minute - sorry Blake! Finally it was our turn to strap up and get in the plane. The flight up is the scariest part and with it being so cloudy, we got to go up another 3k feet! The jump out is the best part of the experience, and surprisingly the parachute float down is so relaxing. I was enjoying my time in the air....until it was too long and I was ready to be on the ground. Once I landed and stood up I realized there was a circle forming around me so naturally I tried to scoot back and blend in. Once I realized everyone was watching us, I was SHOCKED to turn around and see Blake on one knee. I swear I blacked out. I finally got it together and of course said YES! Still in total and utter disbelief. Everything after this moment was a whirlwind. Once we got back in the car I couldn't wait to call all of our family and friends. Except...none of my friends were answering me. I was about to stalk locations when Blake asked me to just enjoy the moment. We pulled up to the airbnb Blake had rented for us and I couldn't wait to get our things inside and go celebrate! I was on cloud 9 and buzzing with happiness thinking truly this day could not get any better....and then I opened the door. Inside of the airbnb I was *again* shocked to see all of our best friends waiting for us and the house decorated to the nines! I truly could not believe everyone had taken the time to come celebrate with us and make it so special. I then realized we couldn't take the original flight out of Columbus that morning because I would have seen all of my friends at the airport lol. We spent the weekend celebrating and when we returned we were greeted by the rest of our family and friends with an engagement party. It was absolutely perfect and felt straight out of a fairytale.
