Our Story

Language partners for life

We met in a Hebrew/English exchange class. Sarah joined to improve her Hebrew, and Aviel joined to improve his English. Sarah worked at the school, so the class was free for her. The class was a lot of fun- half of the class was in Hebrew, for the English-speakers to improve their Hebrew, and half in English for the Israelis to improve their English. Aviel and Sarah spoke in the first class in English and Hebrew. After class, Aviel asked Sarah if she needed a ride home, and Sarah casually said "no thanks, I'll take the train." After a few classes, and more nice chats, Sarah and Aviel started to become friendly. When they were assigned for homework to have a conversation with one another in-person or on the phone in Hebrew and English, they decided to meet up in-person. We met at a café. We both thought the other was in a relationship. Aviel gave Sarah some marketing tips, and Sarah recommended to Aviel to watch "Curb Your Enthusiasm" to improve his English. A day later, Aviel sent her a photo of him watching Curb. He wrote: "We should watch it together one day". They knew then that the other was single. In our next class, we spoke about food, discovering that we both love eating. When the conversation was over, Aviel said to Sarah: "we should continue this conversation." Sarah said to him: "you can drive me home," and he smiled. When we got to Sarah's apartment, we sat in the car for 45 minutes talking. Aviel asked sarah: "what's your morning routine?" and the conversation kicked off from there. After that, Aviel asked Sarah on a date, and we decided we'd go out after our next class, and we booked another date for a few days later. Sarah liked that he was serious - 2 dates in 1 week! After that, things moved fast, and we saw one another all the time. After 3 weeks of dating, Aviel asked Sarah if she wanted to go to Haifa to see the Christmas festival there, and stay over a night in an Airbnb. She was shocked- she just met this guy! But something told her she could trust him, and she said yes. We had an awesome trip experiencing the Christmas festivities there, going to the Arab market, and getting to know one another. We committed to one another soon after that, and moved in together 7 months later. When you know, you know. We've since traveled the world in France, the U.S., Mexico and Portugal, not to mention dozens of trips in Israel. We love either being super active outside, or spending a full day on the couch napping and watching TV. We cook all of our meals, and love to feed one another nourishing food. We love embracing life with everything we have. We're so excited to start our next chapter as a married couple, and we can't wait to celebrate with you.
