Before Avery and Sarah ever met, Sarah already knew Avery’s family through work. She had heard about him through his mom, and somehow managed to meet every member of his family at some point except Avery himself. After the COVID shutdown in June 2020, Avery ended up at Pier 1 Imports, where Sarah was already a manager. Being the perfectionist she is Sarah was hesitant about Avery stepping in to this retail role. When they first met it was not love at first sight for Sarah though Avery felt differently from day one. Still, they worked together nearly every day that summer, and over time something shifted for Sarah. When it was time for Avery to move to South Carolina for school, his going-away party became a turning point (thank you to Joanie, like another mom to Sarah, for convincing her to attend) That night, Avery finally told Sarah how he felt, and the two shared their first kiss. What followed was a relationship built on short visits, FaceTime, long drives, and a bit of secrecy with beginning a relationship during a pandemic. Six months later, Sarah made the leap and moved her life to South Carolina to be with Avery - turning an unexpected workplace meeting into the start of a beautiful life together. They took a slight detour on the road to becoming Mr. & Mrs. to become Mom & Dad to Teddy in December 2023 and are so excited to finally make things official as a family.
