Like a lot of modern day love stories, we met online (despite growing up 45 mins away from one another). Alex made the first move by messaging Sarah, something along the lines of "I would put my hate for Michigan State aside if I got the chance to talk to you!" and from there, the rest is history. Alex lived in KC, Missouri at the time and Sarah had just moved back to Northern MI. We started our relationship long distance until moving to Grand Haven, MI together where we now call home.

We had dinner plans with our friends at our favorite restaurant in Grand Haven, or so I thought. It was a Thursday - exactly one week before my birthday. On our way to dinner, our friends told us they would be late. To kill time, Alex insisted we walk the beach where we always do. We got to the water and that is when Alex got down on one knee - all while said friends were hiding in the sand dunes photographing it all. It was the best surprise! The two of us went to the restaurant afterwards where I had a dozen roses waiting for me and a bottle of champagne at a table overlooking Lake Michigan. We met our friends for drinks afterwards, where my best friend Grace surprised me to join the celebration. To top it off, Alex surprised me with a weekend in Detroit & Kenny Chesney tickets where we would leave for the following day. It was a weekend full of surprises! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. See you in Ludington!
