Dorian: When I look back on what brought Sarah and myself together, I owe a great deal of gratitude to Shane Neyrey. If not for him, I may have never thought twice about the girl I met at a FOCUS recruitment weekend in the fall of 2018. It was not until the following summer that I decided to ask her out. I boldly approached her with what she would later discover was my irresistible mustache and she hesitantly accepted. Sarah: I also owe a great deal to Shane Neyrey. As my very first date ever, he paved the way for Mr. Mustachio. Dorian: After a few clammy dates in Ave Maria, FL, it was on our third date to McDonald’s that things began to open up as we talked about our families. “Sara” by Starship played overhead. We both knew we were hooked. Sarah: It was mostly a first date at Dunkin Donuts and a third date at McDonald’s that really hooked me ;) After FOCUS training ended, I went on an 8 day Silent Retreat, where I decided to end things with Dorian. Dorian: While I tried to respect Sarah’s decision, I knew it wouldn’t last very long. I impatiently waited for her to come to her senses, which she later did in November of that year. Sarah: Mexico City, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is where I couldn’t stand it anymore! I sheepishly asked Dorian if he would give it another shot. He graciously went for it again with a date one week later in Denton, TX at our FOCUS Recruitment Weekend. Dorian: I moved slowly, wondering if this second chance would end like the first one did. But I didn’t realize that this would be the beginning of a 7 month long long-distance relationship with Sarah in Georgia and me in Denver. I longed for the day when we could live in the same place. Sarah: I moved to Denver to work at the FOCUS HQ in July 2020. Through lots of fun, and lots of trial, 15 months later on October 8th Dorian proposed on Jackass Hill, the site of our first Denver date. Now we’re ready to celebrate a nearly 3 year story on July 2, 2022 with all of you!
