Things To Do

Here are some of our favorite spots from the time we lived in Kona for a month!
Manini'owali Beach (Kua Bay)

Manini'owali Beach (Kua Bay)

Kalaoa, HI 96740

While The Big Island doesn't have a whole lot of white sand beaches, this one is definitely one of the best! Show up early to get good parking.

The Coffee Shack

The Coffee Shack

83-5799 Mamalahoa Highway, Captain Cook, HI 96704
, (808) 328-9555

A popular little south Kona spot with great food, baked goods and an incredible view.

Magic Sands Beach Park

Ali'i Drive, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740

This is the closest little white sand beach to the venue and lodging. Grab some lunch from The Poke Shack and eat it on the beach!

Menehune Coffee Company

84-5227 Mamalahoa Highway, Captain Cook, HI 96704
, (808) 238-0627

If The Coffee Shack is too busy, head down the road just a bit to Menehune, which has a smaller view, but a bigger menu!

Kealakekua Bay

Kealakekua Bay

HI 96704

Our favorite snorkeling spot, though it requires a long traverse (on paddleboard or kayak) from the Manini Beach side across the bay to the Cook monument. Or book a boat tour departing from Keauhou Bay.

Keauhou Bay

Keauhou Bay

Kahaluu-Keauhou, HI 96740

Rent a paddleboard or kayak and get out on the water in the morning and you might come across a pod of Spinner dolphins! By night, you can sit out on the viewing deck at the Sheraton to see Manta Rays feeding by the shore.

The Windward Side

The Windward Side

Hilo, HI 96720

If you're staying longer before or after the wedding, you should hop in the car and spend a few days on the other side of the island! Way up north you'll find the artist village of Hawi, amazing views along the Kohala Mountain road down to the central cattle ranching town of Waimea, incredible rugged beaches and lush waysides along the northeastern Hāmākua coast, down to delicious food and culture in Hilo. Down south, the quaint village of Pāhoa is flanked by jungles and lava flows, and of course, drive up through tree fern forests to the main attraction, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you can hike around an active volcano rim and across the moonscape of Kīlauea Iki crater, as well as drive to the edge of the island where huge waves crash into freshly formed land.

For all the days along the way
