After starting a new job, a coworker had suggested that Sarah meet her boyfriend’s friend, Allan. When Allan’s friend asked him to reach out to her, he was shy at first but thank God he did. After exchanging many texts and Instagram messages they met for a (semi) blind date in Asbury Park. Sushi happens to be both Sarah and Allan’s favorite food so there was no question that they would be meeting at Taka. Their connection was instantaneous, they sat for hours just thankful to finally be with one another. After that date they were inseparable, it was truly love at first sight.
Allan knows that New York City and the other boroughs are a safe haven for Sarah. Both her parents grew up in Queens, NY and she too, spent some of her childhood living in Queens. Her Granny still lives there and she spent much of her time as a kid at beloved family members’ apartments in Manhattan. New York will always be a meaningful place to her. Allan had suggested they go to Haven in Edgewater for their anniversary dinner where they could enjoy dining on the Hudson admiring the city’s skyline, knowing that it would be special to Sarah. Sarah of course was excited and couldn’t wait for the evening to come. After having one of the best meals they have had together, Allan had suggested they take a picture in front of the water. It must’ve been less than thirty degrees that night and although she was shivering like crazy, Sarah agreed. When checking to see if the camera was adjusted well enough to capture both of them Allan was secretly setting up her phone to take a video of the proposal. Allan goes on to tell Sarah how much he loves her and her family and how he wants to make her (and them) his family. Next thing you know, he gets down on one knee and asks the most special question of her life, WILL YOU MARRY ME and she said YES 🖤
