It was Thanksgiving November 2020, deep in the pandemic. Sara was at her parents’ house in Great Neck; Ryan was in Port Washington at his friends’. With no more Zoom happy hours to attend, Sara and Ryan did what most bored millennials do: They opened Hinge and started swiping. Sara was struck by Ryan’s smile, good dance moves, and a very cute picture with his niece. She reeled Ryan in with a Love is Blind reference. He had not seen the show... BUT he was intrigued. To make sure he had some material heading into the first date, he immediately binged the entirety, providing her daily progress updates. Two long Facetime chats later, they went to the Bonnie in Astoria for their first real date — outdoor dining, of course. The fact that it was the middle of December did not put a freeze on their good time. Fast-forward four-ish years later, and Ryan cooked up an elaborate plan to get Sara to agree to dinner at The Bonnie. It worked and she had no clue Ryan was about to pop the question! She said yes and that’s why we’re all here.
